TVD Parting Shots

My dad would have been 79 tomorrow. It’s curious to think that he was born at the very beginning of Spring and departed in the very last hours of Summer. (But ah, the time in between.)

Ten for my dad this week. And your dad. Raise a glass.

For yours and mine indeed ...

Choose the road ahead and accept the consequences; be they good or bad.

I'm sure many could apply these thoughts ...

Hard working (harder than for his own good), brave, unprejudiced, stubborn and deeply proud.

The most generous man I ever knew. His generosity knew no bounds; be it his last penny, his last cigarette, or the last tear that rolled down his cheek as I watched him slip from this life.

Irrepressible humour - unfailing, unfailing.

A one and only. Remember with a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, and a spring in his stride.

Stay and rest awhile.

DVD...you've described my dad exactly as well--the most generous man I ever knew too.

Music was the connection I had with my dad. He taught me the first elements of building a hi-fi, could name all the sidemen on the record we were listening to and always asked who's playing when he didn't recognize the licks. Today I was listening to a bunch of old western soundtracks, some of his favorites, and the memories came flooding back. So Jon, and the rest of the TVD network - here's to our dads. Thanx for the memories and all of the help in growing up.
