TVD's Simple Aesthetics
I’ve gone on and on about it before. Hell, it’s even inspired a theme week or two. So, I’ll let it go.
TVD’s simple aesthetic #4: Post punk. NOT indie.
And the best of the post punk lot? Not Joy Division, not Gang of Four, et al...but ...The Sound.
The Sound - The Fire [Live] (Mp3)
The Sound - Where The Love Is [Live] (Mp3)
The Sound - Monument [Live] (Mp3)
The Sound - Love Is Not The Ghost [Live] (Mp3)

Bah I don't go for that "post-punk" bull. Its either Punk or New Wave or early Alt Rock.
OK. But no indie, emkay?
This blog post amazing albums. I sure wish you could post a sample of their music. Thanks a lot.

The sound from the lion’s mouth, it sounds very disturbing.

got i love this album. didn't discover it until a couple of years ago. "winning" is a great tune, but the singer sounds almost exactly like ian astbury from the cult on that track in a way that's kinda creepy.
many, many thanks for postin' this!
shame i never saw them live.
was a club dj at vienna's u4 back then, they were supposed to play there, but due to illness the gig was cancelled :(
Love the sound of The Sound and Adrian Borland's later work. My personal favorites are "Counting the Days" and "Iron Years", the latter being, quite frankly, the best song I've ever heard... bar none.
