TVD Plugs | For the Week of January 12, 2009

What to do with all of those email alerts we get that we simply can't do justice throughout the week? Why, it's condense them right here in our new weekly bulletin board, 'plugs.'

We don't care where you are or what city you're in--if you've got something you wanna promote or think we should be listening to or seeing or reading, this is the place to put it. Got a band? A photo exhibit? DJing some place? A good cause worth promoting? This is the spot for it. (And if you've checked that little widget waaay down there bottom left, this is a global forum, indeed.)

We'll be posting what lands in our in-box right here daily as well as welcoming your tips, and we'll be refreshing it once a week to stay on top of what we're both up to.

So, clue us in right here in the comments section to these posts. Weekly.

Face it - No one in DC is going to get any work done between this Friday and next Wednesday.
There's your excuse (not that you needed one) to come out this Thursday to DJ Neville Chamberlain's "Brazilian Rhythms" party at Cafe Saint-Ex. Let's get this inauguration started!
Sponsored by Som Records and Peroni Beer this is DC's best mid-week dance-off. Samba, MPB, tropicalia, samba rock, batucada, forro, baile funk and Brazilian hip-hop.
Never a cover. Be prepared to dance (show the out of towners how DC do it).
And who knows, maybe the president-elect will drop in for a caipirinha...

IN FROM CROOKED BEAT:

Happy New Year!

We are pleased to announce an In-Store Performance on Friday January 16th with the dreamy, psychedelic sounding rock band (Th'Sounds Of) Kaleidoscope. They will be performing sounds from their new LP/CD release entitled All This Heaven. Formerly based here in DC, the band is now based out of Philadelphia.
We also have tentative dates for the DC artists The Points and Benjy Ferree in the next month or so. Those will announced as soon as they are confirmed.
In stores start at 7PM and are FREE and All Ages.

A large number of customers have requested we mail out a list of recent New & LP arrivals. Since we literally put New & Used LPs almost everyday of the week we do not think it would be appropriate to mail out recent arrivals every few days. So we considering putting a link on website's main page that will be updated every day and will list all of our recent arrivals.
Stay tuned for more about that in the coming months.

And lastly, for everybody who called & asked, Animal Collective's new record Merriweather Post Pavilion is now in stock on LP. Due to high demand, these are first-come, first-serve and we cannot hold them.

Thanks,
Bill, Helen & staff
