Here at THE VINYL DISTRICTwe're good consumers. All Mp3's are posted to promote and give exposure to the music and are linked for a limited time. Please download to preview, then head promptly to your local vinyl vendor (or - OK, CD store too) and fork over your hard earned cash. You'll appreciate the piece of mind.
Got something you think we should be listening to or reading? thevinyldistrict (at) gmail.com
I'm sure this pick will alienate many a TVD reader, but what better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with one of your very first loves? Oh sure, we had our glorious honeymoon phase, leveled off a bit, then subsequently had MORE than our fair share of rough patches. The '80's were a complete mess, for example. Yet, every now and then we still get together to rekindle that old, magical flame. (Or pyro, in this instance.) So Happy Valentine's Day Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace. Did you get our flowers?
Holy crap. This time, Vinyl D., you've gone too far...
When this thing came out, I think my entire collection consisted of Kiss Alive, Ram Jam, Queen's "News of the World", and the first Boston record. Things have improved since then.
"Alive" at least, was mandatory listening amongst us suburban-DC white kids with mid-70s blowdried hair and "disco sucks" t-shirts...

I totally love KISS!
kiss army member here....
You had to love "Kiss Alive." A Two album set for a buck or two more than a single. The perfect way to sample a group in the pre-cd days.
Sampled Rush, Frampton and pre-hit REO in the same way.
My 2nd concert ever was KISS at the Cap Centre - 7/7/79. It's no exaggeration to say it changed my life.
