TVD | Angry Old Man | No. 3

Inexplicably, the '80's are back with a vengeance. And for about a moment or two, I was charmed. But folks...a polite reminder -- the '80's were a reaction to the swagger of the '70's. The DIY aesthetic was a reaction to the overblown pomposity of an era. But '80's for '80's sake is a reaction to well, being fresh out of ideas. (And the 'ironic' boat shoes? Just a tip: weren't cool then. Even worse now.)

Rule #3: Stop ripping off the '80's. Rip off the '70's.

Mott The Hoople - All The Young Dudes (Mp3)
T. Rex - Bang A Gong (Get It On) (Mp3)
Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown (Mp3)
(Ok, technically it's from '69...)
Wings - Listen To What The Man Said (Mp3)
David Bowie - Moonage Daydream (Mp3)

The 80s had some great stuff goin on in the music world. Bowie is a prime example.

just read your thing in Washingtonian, thanks for the shout-out. Also noted a female fan in the comments, because of/in spite of your picture and music-lovin' ways. Nice one.

Potsy and Sack just attended The Who show on Mon and posted a review, have a look when you get a chance.

J-ski: Yep, TVD: Geeking out the gals.

Saw the Who post but didn't get to read the entire thing - but I will!
They were pretty damn good when I saw them earlier in the year, I have to say...

Cheers!

Note that when we did the Washingtonian thing, people said that we made them "want to throw up in [their] mouth". I assume we had a bunch of female admirers as well but they were scared off by the vitriol. Pretty sure that was it.

Vitriol, you say? I've got your new favourite song then:
