Good eclectic mix. I’ve got most of them but I confess I’ve just downloaded The Osmonds. Looking forward to 1972…
P.S. Isn’t that Badfinger track great!
Thanks for the great mix. I was just a wee two-year-old through most of 1971, but most of these songs ended up lodged deep in my memory anyway. :-)
Keep up the good work!
On the underground/heavy psych side, 1971 was the best year ever. Hawkwind's "X In Search of Space", Amon Duul II's "Dance of the Lemmings", Faust, Ege Bamyasi by CAN, aaah...... it was a very good year. Hell, even here in the 'states, wasn't it the year of Zappa's 200 Motels?
Jeeves! Git me that time machine!
Another batch of goodies, although I bet commenter Mick is going to choke on "Go Away Little Girl." I suppose it was supposed to be clever in a meta kind of way, with the pubescent singer telling a girl she's too young for him, but it's mostly just creepy.
Great mix---and they sounded best on AM radio.
jb,
I've never heard that song and now I hope I never do :))
I'm not a secret Osmonds fan or anything, it's just that song brings back memories of when I was a kid.
btw Jon, will you be posting Crazy Horses?
Please post Badfinger's "Day After Day"...can't seem to find it posted anywhere...
thanks,
David M.
Crazy Horses would be fantastic. A classic.
Thanks for all the requests and suggestions -- it was hard narrowing the tunes to JUST these...so many were ubiquitous back then. I'll do my best to add to the years over time.
